Who this policy applies to
Vault Tax Law is a Canadian tax dispute and litigation practice. This policy explains how the firm handles personal information collected through this website. It does not replace the terms that govern an established lawyer–client relationship, which are set out separately in an engagement letter.
Information we collect
The firm collects the information you choose to provide through the consultation request form. This typically includes your name, email address, telephone number, the type of entity you are contacting us on behalf of, a description of your tax matter, the amounts and deadlines involved, and the names of other parties relevant to a conflicts check. We also collect basic technical information such as pages visited and approximate location, through standard website analytics.
Why we collect it
Information submitted through the form is used to carry out an initial conflicts check, to assess whether the firm is able to assist with the matter, and to contact you about your enquiry. Analytics information is used only to understand how the website is used and to improve it.
How information is shared
Personal information is not sold, rented or traded. It is accessible only to the firm and to service providers that operate this website and deliver form submissions, who process it on the firm’s instructions. Information may be disclosed where required by law or by the rules of professional conduct governing the practice of law.
Storage and retention
Form submissions are transmitted by email and stored in the firm’s systems. Enquiries that do not proceed to an engagement are retained only as long as necessary to manage conflicts and to meet the firm’s professional obligations, then deleted. Where a matter is opened, the firm’s file retention policy applies.
Confidentiality of enquiries
Submitting the consultation form does not create a lawyer–client relationship, and information sent before the firm confirms it can act may not attract solicitor–client privilege. For that reason, please do not send sensitive documents, identification numbers or privileged material until the firm confirms it is able to review your matter.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses limited analytics to record page views and general usage patterns. These do not identify you personally and are not used for advertising.
Your rights
You may request access to the personal information the firm holds about you, ask that it be corrected, or withdraw a prior enquiry and ask that the information be deleted, subject to the firm’s professional and legal retention obligations. Requests can be sent to the address below.
